Privacy Policy

MaintainIt ("MaintainIt," "we," "our," or "us") provides a mobile application for tracking home assets and maintenance schedules. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.
This policy also applies to information submitted through the MaintainIt public website when you join the Android close beta tester list.
1. Who This Policy Applies To
This Privacy Policy applies to users of the MaintainIt mobile application on Android and iOS.
MaintainIt is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us using the contact details below.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
A. Account and profile information
- Email address
- Display name or full name
- Authentication identifiers associated with your account
- Profile photo, if provided through your sign-in method such as Google Sign-In
B. Beta signup information
- Email address
- Tester feedback you choose to submit through the feedback form
C. Content you create in the app
- Asset information you enter, such as names, categories, brands, models, purchase dates, and notes
- Maintenance task information, such as task titles, descriptions, service intervals, and service dates
- Maintenance history and log information, including dates, notes, and optional cost entries
- Photos you upload for assets or maintenance logs
D. Device and technical information
- Push notification token used to deliver notifications
- Crash and diagnostic information collected through Firebase Crashlytics
- Basic device and app interaction data used by Google Mobile Ads to load and serve ads
E. Information from third-party sign-in providers
If you sign in with Google, we may receive information made available by Google for authentication, such as your name, email address, and profile image.
3. How We Use Information
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate sign-in and keep you signed in
- Review beta interest and contact selected Android testers
- Store and sync your assets, maintenance tasks, and maintenance history
- Upload and display your photos
- Send push notifications related to app functionality
- Maintain app security, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability
- Display ads in supported versions of the app
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms or policies
4. Services and Third Parties We Use
We use third-party service providers to operate the app. These providers may process information on our behalf and under their own applicable terms and privacy policies.
These services currently include:
- Firebase Authentication for sign-in and account management
- Cloud Firestore for storing account and app data
- Firebase Storage for storing uploaded photos
- Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications
- Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting and diagnostics
- Google Sign-In for optional authentication
- Google Mobile Ads for ad delivery
The app currently includes Firebase Analytics as a dependency, but we do not currently log custom analytics events in the app code. If analytics usage changes in a future release, we may update this Privacy Policy.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information:
- With service providers that help us operate the app
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or MaintainIt
- In connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale
6. Ads
MaintainIt may display ads through Google Mobile Ads. Ad providers may use device identifiers, app identifiers, IP address, and similar technical information to deliver, limit, measure, and improve ads, subject to their own policies and applicable law.
If you publish the app in regions that require consent for personalized advertising or device-level tracking disclosures, you are responsible for configuring the appropriate consent flow before release.
7. Notifications
If you allow notifications, we collect and store a push notification token so we can send notifications to your device. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
8. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the app and for legitimate business or legal purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
When you delete your account using the in-app delete-account feature, the app is designed to delete:
- Your user profile stored in Firestore
- Your assets, maintenance tasks, and maintenance log entries
- Photos associated with your assets and maintenance logs stored in Firebase Storage
- Your Firebase Authentication account
Some data may remain temporarily in backups, logs, or service provider systems for a limited period.
9. Your Choices
- Access and update certain information within the app
- Delete photos, assets, maintenance tasks, and maintenance logs from the app
- Delete your account from the profile screen
- Disable push notifications in your device settings
- Stop using the app at any time
10. Security
We use commercially reasonable measures and third-party infrastructure to help protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Processing
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including through Firebase and Google infrastructure. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws in your jurisdiction.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of the app after an update means the updated policy will apply to your use, to the extent permitted by law.
